The Agricultural Employers Association (AEA) held a two-day Open House Training on Emerging Issues in Labour on 20th -21st August 2026 at The Encore Hotel, Nakuru, bringing together participants for an engaging and practical discussion on emerging labour and industrial relations issues affecting the workplace.
The training provided participants with an opportunity to examine current developments in labour relations, workplace obligations and emerging trends shaping the future of work. The session highlighted The Future Workforce – Artificial Intelligence in Human Resource Management, highlighting the growing influence of technology and artificial intelligence in the workplace.
The programme further covered Designing a Legally Compliant Outsourcing Programme, equipping participants with practical considerations for managing outsourcing within the applicable labour and legal framework
Participants also explored ILO Conventions Nos. 190 and 189, with discussions focusing on emerging workplace obligations and the importance of creating safe, respectful and compliant working environments. Another key session examined the ICJ ruling on the right to strike and managing industrial relations risks, providing insights into the legal and practical considerations surrounding industrial action and workplace relations.
The session focused extensively on labour outsourcing facilitated by Chief Trainer Justice Maureen Onyango -Presiding ELRC Judge -Eldoret including an overview of its legal framework and emerging court decisions relating to outsourcing,the session further covered Designing a Legally Compliant Outsourcing Programme equipping participants with practical considerations for managing outsourcing within the applicable labour and legal framework.
