VACANCY: FARM MANAGER

Agricultural Employers Association commonly known as AEA was started in 1962 and registered in 1966 as an Association representing the collective interests of Employers in the Agricultural industry in matters connected with Employment of Labour. The AEA is an affiliate member of KEPSA, FKE, KAM and ASNET.

Our client based in Thika that is a leading grower, processor, packer and exporter of fresh produce and herbs to a premium market in the UK and Europe, is seeking to expand their operations and seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join their team:

VACANCY: FARM MANAGER

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in optimizing farm performance. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure adherence to company policies while enhancing overall productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strong Leadership to achieve production targets and sales targets.
  • Crop management, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, and monitoring crop
  • Managing operational costs to improve farm efficiency.
  • Managing and maintaining strong relationship with key customers
  • Implementing and adhering to production replanting schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Ensuring crop husbandry and quality of produce is maintained during the entire crop production cycle up until the produce is graded and exported.
  • Analyzing production data and proposing improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Providing leadership, training, and coaching to farm staff.
  • Collaborating with management on farm preparations for audits.
  • Ensuring set production targets are always achieved.
  • Ensuring all farm operations/departments are running seamlessly.
  • Ensuring that the entire team is aligned to the company’s set values and goals.

 

Desired Qualifications, skills and experience;

The job holder must possess:

  • A minimum of a degree in Horticulture, Agriculture & Farm Management
  • Minimum of 5 years in management of fresh produce and herbs farming on a dynamic farm environment
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities, empowers team members, sets clear expectations, and
  • holds individuals accountable.
  • Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Proficiency in sales and marketing of fresh produce and herbs
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to company objectives.
  • Capable of collaborating effectively within a team, receptive to feedback, and committed to
  • continuous learning and improvement.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology to improve productivity, with a willingness to embrace new
  • tools and methodologies.
  • Training in the safe use of chemicals & pesticides
  • Training in fertilizer application
  • Sound knowledge of Global GAP, LEAF, SMETA & SEDEX
  • Sound knowledge of KEPHIS & HCD requirements
